As you know, Apple is very scrupulous in matters relating to the confidentiality of personal data of its customers. Apple does not inherit the examples of Google, Microsoft, Facebook and other companies, collecting a minimum of information about users.
In addition, the company always honestly warns about the collection of information without hiding anything. In this article, we will try to figure out exactly what customer data is stored on Apple’s servers, whether there is important information among them and how users can download a copy of it.

What user information does Apple store?
In the spring of 2018, the company provided users with the opportunity to download archives of data about them. Earlier, similar services were provided by Google and Facebook.
A request to download data is made through an Apple ID account. In our case, the editorial “account”, which has existed for about 10 years, was used for verification. Given the “experience” of the account and the considerable number of iPhones, iPads, and Macs that passed through it, it would be logical to assume that the archive size would be quite impressive, but in reality its size was only about 1 GB. Moreover, the archive contained a minimum of important information: physical and email addresses, a list of all purchased applications and games, a list of installed games and programs, a list of music tracks, albums, ringtones and movies downloaded from the iTunes Store, browser bookmarks, notes, calendars and reminders: as well iCloud Drive files and documents and photos uploaded to iCloud. Company does not keep history visits to web pages, transfers, phone call logs or other personal information.
Naturally, the company can collect personal information, but does not save it, and all information, if used, is exclusively in encrypted form.

How to download personal information that Apple stores?
As already mentioned above, the company launched a service with which users can download stored data about themselves. However, this process is quite lengthy and can take more than a week (about 8 days). It is worth noting that company employees can call you back to make sure that you sent the request to download information.
To download the archive:
1. Open the section “Data and privacy” on the official Apple portal.
2. Click the link button “Request for data”.
3. Select the data that you would like to include in the archive.
4. Click “Continue”.
5. Select the maximum file size into which the archive will be split. For example, all your data “weigh” 3 GB, and you specified a value of 2 GB. In this case, Apple will send you two archives of 2 GB and 1 GB in size.
6. Click “Fulfill the request”.
That, in fact, is all. In the coming days you will receive an archive with all the information that Apple stores about you.
