Apple keyboards for personal computers and built-in keyboards in MacBook have dedicated volume buttons (F10, F11, F12). when you click on them, a toast notification appears with a volume bar, similar to the notification in iOS. Keyboards from other manufacturers usually have volume buttons as well.

MacOS also assigns different volume levels for built-in speakers and connected headphones / speakers. Why did Apple hide auto brightness settings

The main reason is saving battery power in the iPhone. Apple hid the switch “Auto brightness”so that users are less likely to disable this feature, because even the description says: “Turning off auto brightness can shorten battery life”.

It is worth noting Apple’s feature version “Auto brightness” quite comfortable. Like Android, iOS has a slider for customization, but instead of fixed brightness, it sets its approximate range. This means that even if you set the brightness to a low level, the screen will still be well lit in dazzling sunlight.

A very convenient feature, however, it does not always work correctly. Sometimes you need to make minimal changes to the settings, but with the release of iOS 11 you will have to do a few steps. If you, for example, watch a long film, it will be very inconvenient.

Of course, all this can be called ordinary nit-picking. Nevertheless, for people who are accustomed to setting the brightness on their own, placing this function in such an uncomfortable, completely non-intuitive menu will be an unpleasant surprise.

The control center first appeared in iOS 7 and was Apple’s response to competition from Android and the jailbreak community. In the eleventh version of the mobile operating system, presented at the WWDC 2017 conference, the Control Center was significantly redone.

Of course, the changes affected not only the appearance of the Control Center. By analogy with iOS 10, many elements of the Control Center, including the flashlight power button, were able to adjust the brightness of the light by pressing and holding the shortcut.

The user can choose between four modes of light intensity, ideal for various situations.

The low-intensity mode (first division) is best suited in cases where too bright light whitens everything around and it is very difficult to examine small objects at close range. In addition, a lower brightness of the flashlight will save battery power of the smartphone. Mode medium and high intensity should be selected if necessary to illuminate objects in the distance.

It is noteworthy that other elements of the Control Center received similar functionality. For example, by long pressing the camera icon, you can select the shooting mode,

and pressing and holding the timer icon allows you to set the required countdown without launching the Clock application.
