People enjoy using the standard Mac email app to easily send and receive email messages. At the same time, the program can work in full screen mode, and with the release of macOS High Sierra there is support for automatic activation of the Split View mode when a new email arrives.

If full-screen mode is active (for example, when you watch a video in Safari full screen), when you receive a new e-mail message, the screen automatically splits in Split View mode. But this mode of operation is not always convenient and can be very distracting.

How to disable the launch of Mail in Split View mode while watching videos on Mac
Fortunately for those who do not need to activate Split View in full screen mode, there is good news – you can turn off the automatic display of an additional window by following these steps:
1. Open the Mail application and go to the menu bar.
2. Click on post office → Settings.
3. Click the tab The main.
Uncheck the option “Open messages in Split View in full screen mode ».
After its deactivation, the Mail application will open a new message in the form of a floating one, superimposed on top of other windows. Please note that this behavior applies only to the full-screen view of the application (transition using the green button). In the normal operation mode of Mail, new messages or replies are always created in a separate window on top of others.
