How to transfer SMS correspondence from iPhone to iPhone or iPad
Make sure that the iOS device from which you want to transfer Messages works on iOS 11.4 and higher. In this article, we talked about how to find out the version of software installed on an iPhone or iPad.
In addition, both devices must be tied to the same Apple ID in the iCloud section. Then:
1. Open your iOS device’s settings.
2. Go to the section Apple ID (at the very top).
3. Go to menu iCloud.
4. Activate the switch opposite the inscription Messages.
Next, your device will begin to download the entire database from Messages in iCloud. How quickly this happens depends solely on how actively you communicate. In practice, it takes from a few seconds to a couple of minutes.

How to transfer SMS correspondence from iPhone to Mac
Make sure that the iPhone from which you want to transfer Messages works on iOS 11.3 and higher, and Mac on macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 or higher.
In addition, both devices must be tied to the same Apple ID in the iCloud section. Then:
1. Launch the application on your Mac. Messages.
2. In the menu bar, click Settings → iMessage.
3. Check the box next to the inscription Enable this account, and then Enable Messages in iCloud.
Then a database will be sent to your Mac from Messages in iCloud.
If message synchronization via iCloud is already working on one of your Apple ID devices, the Mac will offer to enable the same function on the computer the first time you launch the application Messages.
