How to use tab groups in Chrome
To use the tab grouping feature, open multiple tabs. Now you can move on to exploring the new experimental functionality of the browser.
Open a few of your favorite web pages to start grouping tabs.
Now right-click on the tab and select “Add to new group“. If there is no such item in Google Chrome, which is installed on your computer, update your browser to the latest version.
A colored circle will appear next to the tab, clicking on which will open the tab group menu.
In it, you can give your group some meaningful name, change the color of its label, add a new tab to this group, ungroup them all, or close all of them at once.
When you give the group a name, the circle disappears and is replaced by the caption you gave it.
To give the tab groups more personality, you can choose from eight available colors. It also helps differentiate the groups a bit if you don’t want to give them a name.
To add a new tab to an existing group, click “Add new tab to group”, And it will appear next to the existing ones.
To add tabs to an already existing group, right-click on the tab and clickAdd to existing group“By selecting the group in which you want to place the item. Alternatively, you can simply drag the tab into an existing group until the title is colored in the appropriate color. The tab is now part of the group.
If you don’t like the order in which the groups are organized, it’s easy enough to rearrange them. Drag the colored circle or name from the tab bar until you are satisfied with the group’s new location.
And if you no longer need a specific tab in a group, you can delete it. Right click on the tab and select “Remove from group“. You can also drag a tab out of the group and place it side by side in an empty space.
But if you want to completely disband the group, you can do it as quickly as you created it. Click on the group name or colored circle, and then select “Cancel group creation“.
If you have finished working with all the tabs within the group, you can close all elements at once, destroying both the group and its contents. Click on the name of the group you want, and then select “Close group“.
While Chrome’s tab grouping feature is missing a few things, such as the ability to combine groups, the Tab Grouping feature is a great way to organize, group, and mark all the tabs open in the browser.
