Many iOS users have probably tried, but couldn’t find functionality to create contact groups on an iPhone or iPad. The obvious benefit of this sorting method is that the user can find the desired number much faster among a large number of entries in the phone book.

In most cases, contact groups greatly simplify the workflow for those users who have to make a large number of calls during the day.
However, in iOS, for unknown reasons, the ability to customize groups was absent for quite a long period of time. Moreover, even after the implementation of this functionality, it was not available in the mobile version of the OS.
There are two workarounds for this limitation, one of which is to use Contacts on Mac. If you don’t have an Apple computer at hand, you need to use the web version of iCloud.

How to create contact groups on iPhone and iPad on icloud.com
1… On personal computer launch a browser and log in (enter your Apple ID) at iCloud.com (you must also make sure that the user’s corresponding mobile device is synchronized with this account in the cloud service).
2… Select the web application “Contacts“
3… Click on the “+” sign in the lower left corner of the panel and select the function “A new group”…
3… Enter a name for the new group and press enter.
4… Add the appropriate contacts to the group (drag from the right column).
Unfortunately, this cannot be done in iOS, which is why manipulations must be carried out in iCloud.
You should select the item “All contacts“And transfer the necessary records (to select several records at once, when selecting, you must simultaneously hold down the Ctrl or ⌘Command for Mac owners).
Soon after that, the data from iCloud will be synced to the iOS device (check if Contacts along the way Settings → (your name) → iCloud), and the contact groups created on the computer will appear in it.
