How to automatically clear the list of downloaded files in Safari on Mac
In order to see the action of the Safari browser with the download list, just open the menu Safari → Settings … (keyboard shortcut Command (⌘) +,) and go to the “The main“. For us, the item “Clear download list“:
- In one day. The default setting. After 24 hours, Safari will automatically clear the line with the successfully downloaded file.
- At the end of Safari. The download list will be cleared when the browser shuts down. Thus, with each new Safari session, you will have a clean download list.
- After a successful download. If you do not want to see anything in the list except active downloads, then select this item.
- Manually. The browser will not clear the download list at all, so this task is entirely up to the user. To clear the list manually open “Downloads»Or press the key combination Command + Option + L (⌘ + ⌥ + L), and then tap the clear button.
P.S .: If by pressing the button “Downloads»The menu is not displayed, so the download list is empty. Clearing the list does not affect the downloaded files, which will be located in the directory / Downloads. By clicking on the magnifying glass icon to the right of the downloaded file, the Finder will immediately display the directory and the file itself will be highlighted.
