Surely many of us will find old speakers lying around idle, but do not throw them away. In any speaker, whether it’s a giant analog in a wooden case, automotive or computer, you can breathe a second life and make a lot of useful things out of them. All it takes is free time, a set of tools and a little effort.
If the old speakers are still working
Internet radio
You can make a radio receiver for listening to Internet radio yourself. To do this, you need functioning desktop speakers and a Raspberry Pi single-board computer (you can buy here).
Homemade boombox
This is one of the more challenging projects that will require car speakers, a transformer, an amplifier and possibly a new enclosure, as not all speakers come in high quality enclosures.

Turn Speakers Wireless with Chromecast Audio
If you don’t want to mess with your old speakers, you can turn any of them wirelessly using the Chromecast Audio dongle. It allows you to connect external speakers via AUX to play sound. In this case, the dongle acts as a multimedia player that broadcasts sound from a smartphone via Wi-Fi.
How non-working speakers can be used
Non-working speakers can be disassembled into “spare parts” and used in various projects. The disassembly process is demonstrated in the video below.
Jewelry stand
The speaker grill can be used to make an excellent stand for various jewelry, such as an earring organizer. Place the net in a baguette or frame and hang it on the wall or place it elsewhere. Since the grill is made of metal, if desired, it can be painted in any color.

Wooden furniture and shelves
From the wooden case of vintage analog speakers, excellent shelves, cabinets or coffee tables are made. It will be easiest for novice carpenters to make a shelf for books. To do this, take a wooden case, sand it, polish it and attach the legs to the table. That’s basically it.
Stand for books or CDs
This project will require serious carpentry skills, but the resulting result will no doubt be worth the effort.
