2 ways to leave the right apps in Dock on Mac (macOS)

Toolbar Dock configured so as not to “clog” yourself with rarely used programs. If you open the application from the folder of the same name in macOS or Launchpad, and it was not previously docked in the Dock, it will disappear from the panel after closing. This is not always convenient – sometimes we need the program to remain in the Dock. How to achieve this?

There are two ways at once.

Method one

1. Right-click on the icon of an open application.

2. Hover over Parameters.

3. Check the box next to Leave to the Dock.

Second way

Enough drag the icon of the desired application to another place in the Dock (for example, swap it with another program). Your action lets macOS know that you want to have this application in the Dock – otherwise why would you move it? So immediately after you move the icon, a checkmark opposite the inscription Leave to the Dock set by the system automatically.

How to remove application icon from Dock

1. Right-click on the desired icon in the Dock.

2. Hover over Parameters.

3. Uncheck the box next to the inscription Leave to the Dock.

If the application is not running, follow steps. 1-2 and click on the inscription Remove from Dock.
