Without unnecessary introductions, let’s go straight to the facts. The 2020 Apple phablet has a display resolution of 884 times higher than the good old Nokia phone introduced in 1998. Who was in between?
The Nokia 5110 had a monochrome screen, and its resolution was fantastically small by today’s standards – just 84 by 48 pixels (65 pixels per inch). However, in the late 90s. of the last century, this was quite enough – after all, millions of people finally got a mobile connection in their pocket, and a tiny screen was enough to see the sent SMS, find the desired phone number in the address book or play the “snake” game.
The 5110 also became the first fashionable mobile phone with its removable panels.

The next major industry event happened in 2004, when Motorola unveiled its clamshell Razr V3… It impressed with its form factor and two screens, one of which, external, showed information about the caller even before the user opened the device. And then on January 9, 2007, Steve Jobs introduced the first iPhone. It had only one physical button (“Home”) and a giant screen at the time with a resolution of 320 × 480 pixels (163 pixels per inch) – 38 times better than a Nokia phone, which seemed an outdated relic of the past even then.
