Choosing a laptop for a child is harder than it sounds.
A quarantined child is worse than nuclear war. He doesn’t let his parents work, and he doesn’t want to study. In particular, if he does not have his own gadget, which he does not need to share with anyone.
We will leave aside pedagogical questions. And we will not argue with the opinion of some parents that the child needs to limit the use of gadgets, especially – independent and uncontrolled.
Even if you share this point of view, it’s hard to deny that learning (all the more remotely in quarantine) without a computer is difficult.
Yes, and it is unlikely that anyone will deny that in the modern world it is better to be with a computer on “you” from a very young age.
In general, buying a laptop for a child is the right step from all points of view.
But which one?
Many parents make the mistake of buying the cheapest and wildest laptops for their children. Why something expensive and powerful is the same for the child, they reason. And make the unfortunate kid endure “brakes ”and“ freezes ”.
Other parents “freak out “and buy top-end gaming laptops for children for” all the money in the world. ” And the child then watches cartoons on this laptop. And, more importantly, in a year breaks this expensive gadget to hell (these are children, reproaching them with negligence is often simply stupid).
So, a compromise is needed here. A sufficiently productive solution so that there is no “brakes. ” A good screen so that the child does not spoil his eyes. Nice keyboard. And sane price.
We have chosen five laptops, which can be the best purchase for a child of preschool – primary school age.
Great entry-level laptop. Without any complaints, but also without tangible minuses.
15-inch matte screen does not glare as glossy screens (that dominate the market). If the child has a sunny room, this is important.
The hardware is simple here – Intel Celeron N4000, 4 GB, integrated video, 500 GB hard drive.
But then immediately installed Windows 10 Home 64bit. For those who do not want themselves “bother ”with the installation or believes that it is too early for his child to join the magical world of Linux, an excellent option.
And the Asus X543 weighs just 1.9 kg. For an entry-level 15-inch laptop, this is normal weight.

Dell Inspiron 3584
Another one “tag ”, but more expensive.
Here is a screen with Full HD resolution. Glossy, but anti-reflective. Quite worthy “middling “Intel Core i3−7020U processor, 4 GB of RAM and a 1 TB hard drive. Such a processor with an integrated video card does not allow talking about serious toys, but it’s quite possible to play something casual.
Pre-installed Windows 10 Home allows you to start working immediately after purchase.
The laptop weighs 2 kg. For home use will do.

Xiaomi RedmiBook JYU4152CN
19 thousand UAH
If you still decide to pamper your child with a productive solution (you never know, sometimes you allow me to play, or just with a reserve for the future), you can look at this model from Xiaomi.
It will be difficult for competitors to find something like this for the money. Especially when you consider that Xiaomi has learned to make laptops with literally premium builds. In this case, we are talking about a metal case that does not creak and does not bend under the fingers, like some rivals in the market.
Well, from the point of view of the filling, everything is gorgeous here.
8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor, 8 GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce MX250 discrete graphics card (2 GB) and 512 GB SSD.
And a matte 14-inch screen with IPS-matrix.
And up to 10 hours of battery life (this is according to the manufacturer, of course, but in reality 6-7 hours with WiFi and average screen brightness).
As a result, we have a solution with good performance, many games will go quietly at medium settings (although, of course, for the heavy toys of recent years, the capabilities of the MX250 graphics card are not enough).
With such “iron ”this RedmiBook will not be out of date soon. So this is a good investment.

Lenovo IdeaPad S145-15IWL
This “tag ”is similar to the aforementioned Dell laptop.
But with a similar budget, this model is a bit lighter. (1.85 kg versus 2 kg) and has a number of differences in the filling.
Intel Pentium Gold 5405U is weaker here (versus Intel Core i3 by Dell), but here is 8 GB of RAM, and instead of a hard drive – a faster SSD-drive with a capacity of 256 GB.
There is no discrete graphics card here, you can forget about gaming ambitions.
For someone, it may be important that, unlike a Dell laptop, this model does not have Windows preinstalled – you will have to worry about the operating system immediately after purchase.

Acer Swift 1 SF114−32
11 thousand UAH
If you want to buy a child the most compact solution (Well, you never know, wear from room to room, or with the expectation of a post-quarantine future), but at the same time do not mind spending a little, you can look at Swift 1.
This 14-inch laptop weighs just 1.3 kg. For fragile children’s pens – what you need.
There is nothing outstanding in terms of hardware, but if you do not play games, it will be just right.
An Intel Celeron N4000 processor with 4 GB of RAM and a 128 GB SSD drive, as well as an integrated Intel UHD Graphics 600 graphics card.
The screen here is very decent – 14 ″, IPS matrix, resolution (1920 × 1080). And, importantly, it’s matte.
You will have to deal with the installation of the operating system yourself.
