Updating watchOS 7 is another big step for the Apple Watch. Unfortunately, support for third-party dials did not appear in it, as users so requested, but Apple’s proprietary dials became more customizable. And that is not all.

The update also adds a new “sleep tracker” application, detects when you wash your hands and starts a timer, adds new workouts, improves Siri and much more.
But, unfortunately, not every owner of Apple Watch will be able to install watchOS 7.

Does watchOS 7 support Apple Watch Series 1, Series 2, and Series 3?
At WWDC 2020, Apple executives said that watchOS 7 is only compatible with Apple Watch Series 3 and later. Owners of the Apple Watch Series 1 and Series 2, unfortunately, will not receive an update in the form of the Apple watchOS 7 operating system this fall.
Apple does not refuse to support such devices without good reason, therefore, most likely, some of the new features in watchOS 7 simply require more powerful equipment. The new Apple Watch models are equipped with S-series dual-core chips, which makes the Series 3 watch about 70% faster than the S2 Series Series chip.
Such a decision will disappoint the owners of the old Apple Watch, but it is simply a tribute to the need to develop watchOS.
